Bohag arrives
in the abode of the red river and blue hills.
A pleasant scene unfolds,
as nature gifts.
The sun-kissed earth
wears a new garb;
she is the bountiful giver
with generous pride.
Adorning the land,
orchids bloom in their vibrant shades.
Oh what a picturesque sight!
Amidst the tender green foliage,
a chorus is heard.
They are the koel and the cuckoo
renting the air
with their merry tunes!
Blissfully they carry out their task
of being the harbingers of spring.
Sweet melodies of love and longing
treat one’s ears,
and youthful steps blend
in graceful dance.
In zestful camaraderie
do the young and old unite,
gladdened hearts restless
and eager to rejoice.
Sorrows forgotten,
faces beam with abundant joy.
It rains happiness,
embracing one and all!
An ideal time to bond and celebrate,
homes light up with familial warmth.
Kitchens buzz day and night,
spreading the aroma of scrumptious delights.
In the horizon, a fresh year awaits
with promises and hopes so bright.
A joyous picture unfolds,
as the wonders of Rongali Bihu mesmerize.
Bohag Bihu, also known as Rongali Bihu, marks the beginning of the Assamese New Year. As the bard of the Brahmaputra, Bhupen Hazarika, once said, bohag is not just a season. It is the lifeline of the Assamese people, an inspiration for their social lives.
May the spirit of the festive season fill our days with unparalleled joy and good health! A very happy Rongali Bihu to all those who celebrate.

Joyous and beautiful. Like a rainbow of words and floral delights.
